Apart from the A1 section between Grantham and Newark this is pretty much all country roads with loads of nice sweeping bends. A few villages to negotiate at 30mph but other than that all national speed limit roads. Interesting - if silly - toll bridge on the A57, bikes free. After going through Ollerton, the only boring bit, you will reach the village of Kneesall. Stop here at the Hay Barn for breakfast or lunch, or just a cuppa. Its does a fantastic full English and all the produce is locally sourced and freshly cooked. The best bacon I think I have tasted. definitely bike friendly and there is usually a good handful of bikes on site. After the stop the best bit is next to come, in my opinion the A616 from here to Muskham is just fabulous, great vision sweeping bends and smooth hills with a great road surface. Go through Newark and out the other side, turn right at the lights after the town centre to get back into the lanes and head for Bottesford. Back on the A52 to the start point.... Enjoy.
