If you are looking for a 3 day, challenging ride, starting & finishing in Chiang Mai, this takes in a good selection of Thai roads.... Day 1 (500km) takes you out on the main Hwy 11 for a few hours before bypassing Uttaradit and heading cross country on quiet roads to Nakhon Thai, which usually makes for a fuel & a lunch stop. The last few hours see you back on Hwy 21, with the great views as you descend into the City. Day 2 (400km), from Loei to Nan, sees you retrace your steps for an hour, before turning right after Phu Ruea onto Hwy 2294. These quiet roads follow the Laos border north, before using the deserted Hwy 1083 through the Sri Lanna National Park to Na Noi. The last hour from Wiang Sa into Nan has a bit more traffic, but wide sweeping bends so plenty of room. Day 3 (290 km) is a little shorter, taking in the legendary 1091 & 1251 to Phayao where a detour into the city for lunch by the lake is suggested. The day ends with fast dash back to Chiang Mai on the ´race track´ Hwy 120 & 118.
