The A32 is one of my favourite roads. It combines a few reasonable straights with a variety of bends. Mainly flatish with a couple of hills. Plently to keep you occupied with calculating your next line. Best machine to tackle this is a Suzuki T350 or perhaps a T500 - nothing too powerful.
The A32 is nothing to write home about. It's a fast A road which passes through a few nice ish villages. There are 4-5 good straights and overtaking is not difficult. There are a couple of hazardous junctions but they are all signed.
One of my favourite stretches of road, lots to keep you occupied and suitable for all riding levels from the newly passed novice to the old and bold ex police motorcyclist, and all bike types from your twist and go moped through the range to the big trallie! If you are wanting to risk your licence, there are nice long stretches of straight road, and if you are just wanting to enjoy the views, you can dawdle along at 30 or 40 mph. Loomies cafe is halfway along the route conveniently next to a fuel stop. This can get a bit overcrowded at times, but this is only due to the popularity of the road with the biking fraternity!
I Like! Beware of farm vehicles and lorries. It is fantastic. Go try, turn aroundtry again, turn around...you get the picture.
Be really careful on this road as the police presence is now quite high, they are even using peoples driveways to lurk in and theres a traffic calming experiment scheduled for one of the villages soon. The section south of the Meon Hut and before the roundabout (Meonstoke?) is a particular fave with the coppers. Had a couple of mates ticketed and they examined the bikes to check they had regulation silencers.
What a nice road :-) Perfect for a relaxing run, or if you want to push a bit more plenty to keep you busy, some nice corner sequences and some looong straight bits, mostly with very good surface. And theres Loomies cafe half way along!
an amazing stretch of road only spoilt by the occasional speed limit and slow moving hgv enjoy it if you get chance
Oh My God! What a road! Very, Very fast sweepers, tight 1st/2nd gear sharp lefts and rights, beautiful scenery, plenty of straights with room to get past cars. Ludicrously fast fun Heavy Police presence (watch out for A272 junction - seems to be there more as a deterrent than to 'do' riders), loads of bikes 2 up (3pm on a sunday), some gravel/mud, but brilliant brilliant hooliganery. One of my favourite roads in the UK. This is a great road if you have a pillion who's never been on a bike before...
Great piece of road, but does get very busy in the summer months, especially on Wednesdays when the Alton Station cafe meets are up and running. As others have already mentioned, the straight bit of road around East Tisted can goad you into going for it, but be careful as it has a crossroads there and also is a hotspot for a mobile camera. You can also get 'airborne' if not careful! All in all, a superb bit of road for a blast and a must early in the morning during the summer.
Used to commute on this road for 7 years and still use it for work ocassionally. Police presence not so evident in week but more freight traffic, boo! Avoid Sundays as it is too congested and attracts a lot of police presence. Got pulled once by an unmarked Pan European, new he was copper though as have never seen a Pan ridden so fast! Watch out for Sunday drivers all week as this area is popular for country lunches. Generally road is fast, sweeping and well surfaced. Be aware of side turnings after blind bends, wild animals and slow down in built up areas. Do not cross solid white lines to overtake as the police take a very dim view on this road in particular especially considering the number of fatalities (Signs keep you aware).
A personal favourite - that improves as you learn the corners - a couple of Right handers coming from Fareham over hump back bridges that could make your wife a widow. Start early in the morning, no, I mean very early, learn the road and hazards, and have a fantastically rewarding blast. After 8am - forget it, cars, speed traps, tractors etc etc..... It's a shame they closed the Little Chef - still you'll have to turn left at the Meon Hut and do the 272 to Tescos for Brekkie.... Look out for a group of 7's!!
Very tempting to go very fast on the straight, down section between Privett and East Tisted. Regular mobile Police camera Hotspot is the large "Burger Van" Lay Bye at the Monkwood crossroads. Look out for all manner of wild animals crossing the road (the occasional dear is not uncommon)in the early hours, if you are so inclined!! Apart from all the negatives, this is still a great run!!
Quality bit of road, and it even has some nice big yellow signs to try and convince you not to go crazy ;O)
This road rocks although can carry a few too many cages at times - some of whom like to try and race you!
This route offers a nice variety of sweepers and tight corners. Beware that there can be some police presence here as the police use part of this route for training.
